Common RP Etiquette:
1. When two or more people are involved in an ongoing RP, and you want to join, you have two options: You might post OOC style and ask - example: ((Hey guys, d'you mind if ____ joins in with you?)); or, you can post a 'float' post by saying:
Jack stood a few feet from the group, leaning idly against a wall. He looked to them, obviously wanting to speak.
This allows the people already RPing to accept you. The only exception to this is if your character actually does burst into people's faces. Then by all means, annoy them and enter unannounced!
2. Always read a character's profile before attempting to interact with them. This should be one of those 'duh' rules, but tons of people don't follow it. You want to know who you're dealing with before accidentally ruffling their feathers!
3. It is polite to tell people via OOC when you have to leave or when you'll be right back. Failure to do so may gain your peers' ire.
4. Never be too shy to message a person and ask a question about their character - I only let nice people join my RP boards, so I'm sure that no one will turn you away!
5. Please, for the love of rum, use spell-check. I know, spelling may be hard for some of you, and I'm not trying to make you feel put-down. However, using the check will allow you to not only improve your grammar, but also the quality of the posting on this board as a whole. (Note: I suks at sepllings tooz)
6. Never be afraid to be stylistic in your writing - we love it.
7. Do not RP a major character without posting a profile. Minor characters, like grunts on a ship or random companions, do not need their own account/profile. (Though you'd probably want to mention them in the profile of the character they're with.)
8. Here's a biggie: For now please keep the numbers of RP-ers in each thread limited to 4, 5, or 6.... It can get confusing with out a posting order, and with more people it can take a long time depending on the number of people.
9. Cuss words and violence are allowed. No sex though please... you can imply that it has happened between too characters or is about to happen but please for the love of GOD don't go into details at this point in time. Concentrate on WOO-ING the girl/boy.
10. Also if you want your character to have a connection to another character please ask the character's creator before making it so. If you want your characters to be related to the ancient pirate captians? You have to ask me but it probably won't happen. We reserve the rights to ask you to leave/change your character if it doesn't work.
