There are several different races in the world of the rift, but despite the fact that these othe races exist humans still top the others population wise.
The Races: Human Vampire Centaur Merfolk Shapeshifters (lycan)
At this current point in time only the human race is able to be rp-ed unless you gain specific permission from myself (Rayen), also until a certian point in the RP (you will be able to tell when!) vampires and lycan are not to appear, they can, however, be mentioned-- they are rumored to exist.
I realize that some of the color descriptions are... at best vauge... so I will be making a color chart for the ones that appear vauge- to me atleast.

Humans:The only known race to exist before the discover of the rift, although legends and rumors always mention humanoid creatures that were not what they seemed. Humans have average strength, as well as a “short” life span- well compared to the other races it is short!- of between 75 and 81 years if they die of normal causes. Humans are very susceptible to disease although with the discover of magic disease does not present the problem that it did once. Humans, despite their surprising ability to learn most types of magic, are not adapt at using the magic nor knowing their magical limits.
Height:
Commonly does not exceed 6’ 5”, and adults average between 5’2” (female) and 5’9” (male)
Hair:
Found in a variation of colors: Common: White, Black, Grey, Blonde, Brown, Red (all in multiple shades) Uncommon: Extremely light blonde, Raven Black (black with hints of purple, green, and/or blue), Maroon, Magenta Other: Human hair takes on dyes readily giving them the ability to change their hair color if they can find dyes… which are harder to find than you think. Also certain “diseases”/ailments can change the colour of human hair to varying shades of blue ranging from ice to a steel blue.
Eyes:
Two, found in a variation of colors: Common: Blue, Storm Blue, Storm Grey, Green, Hazel, Brown (all in various shades) Uncommon: Pale shades of green, purple/violet (varying shades, not including plum and darker), black, grey. The color of two eyes being different (i.e. left green, right blue) extremely rare unless under stipulation of medical condition, view “Other.” Other: Humans are subject to going blind or getting cataracts in their eyes, and illness can colour the whites of the eyes yellow.
Skin:
Varies from pale (but not WHITE) to very dark brown (but not quite black); this includes tans. Human’s skin sunburn easily depending on the colour. When ill the skin tone takes on a sickly grayish, or yellow, tint.
(I am currently working away at the race bios... so give me a little bit of time, k? They will be more indepth than this... If you can think of things that I should add please PM/IM me... I am going to include the magic and lifespan)

Vampire: Appear much like humans, their main difference in appearance is that they are extremely pale, and tend to lack anything vividly colored. With in the vampirian society there are three titles for the different “species*:” Vampires (Those who replenish and feed themselves by drinking blood), Ispa (Those who feed off the energy of their victims in order to replenish or feed themselves, although they also feed off of blood though blood does not replenish much of their energy.), and Arim (The vampires who feed off a specific type of energy that is pulled from the astral plane, and dreams of their victims, they drink little blood, since most of their energy is replenished through their other methods.).
Height: Commonly does not exceed 6’ 5”, and adults average between 5’2” (female) and 5’9” (male)
Hair: Found in a variation of colors: Common: White, Black, light grey Uncommon: Pale blonde, pale blue Other: Vampiric hair does not hold die very well. Vampire’s hair grows at an incredible rate, although once it reaches a certain length-which varies from vampire to vampire, although it is always bellow shoulder length- it will stop growing, although if cut it will grow back. Also their hair has a silky texture and tends to also have a special shine.
Eyes: Two, found in a variation of colors: Common: Pale green, grey, medium ice blue Uncommon: Yellow, red Other: The white of the eye is said to take on a particular yellow tint when they are in blood lust, although whether or not this is true has yet to be proven.
Skin: Mostly pale or white, although there are a few that have a darker skin tone- a chocolate colour that has a bit of a grayness to it.
*the species of vampires are actually taken from one of my stories so plese do not take or use the name Ispa or Arim with out my permission.

Centuar: ((yes, yes, I am doing this! ... if any one has a sugestion for height it would help!))
Hair: Found in a variation of colors: Common: Greys, Black, Brown Uncommon: Red Other: Although they have most colours that human have in the area of hair centaurs do not have any form of blonde, nor does their hair ever turn white. Centaur hair takes well to die, although their hide does not.
Eyes: Two, found in a variation of colors: Common: Pink, lilac, espresso, chocolate, periwinkle, Storm Blue, Burnt Orange, Navy Other: There are other eye colours, those listed are just the most common… Although there are certain eye colours that centaurs do not have: Maroon, a purple darker than lilac, green, yellow, and red.
Skin: Varies from slightly tanned to an espresso, although the darker the skin tone the rarer it is.
Hide: Any colour a horse can have, a centaur some where is sure to have it.

Merfolk: Merfolk come in a variety of forms, not all have fish tails like are commonly seen, in rarer cases some have tentacles, and even rarer: legs! Merfolk, however, can not breathe air unless they are given a special charm (only obtainable from a merfolk emperor/empress, and only allowing them 12 hours above water at a time), buying a potion (extremely rare; most must be taken every hour and have enough for four hours of surface “walking”) or placed under a spell/curse (which can last a life time)-the only people that are known of being capable of performing this spell/curse are from a tribe that is no longer supposed to exist, and a select few of the hierarchy in Kotou. Height: A grown mer-person is at least 5’2 (tail included) Hair: Found in a variation of colors: Common: any and every colour… even rainbow! Eyes: Two, found in a variation of colors: Common: red, yellow, orange Uncommon: black Other: white Skin and Scales:Skin: Varying shades of greens and yellows. Scales: Like their hair, mer-people’s scales (or slimy skin of tentacles) come in any and every colour… but they tend to have a similar are almost the exact same color as their hair as their scale colour.

Lycan/Shapeshifters: Lycans are also dubbed the “beast-people” for there ability to transform into animals… One of the best examples of lycans are the werewolves- although any lycan called this name is one that has been banished from the circle of tribes (… if they are a wolf that is… the others are were-[insert animal form]) for what most lycans consider “unbearable acts”- i.e. killing a human for food, unless all game has been hunted and vegetation eaten. A large percentage of lycans in the Rift are banished, but the most feared are the ones that live on the island of Bachiatari Shima. Not all lycan, when taking there animal forms, are larger than the actuall animal, most-in fact- are relatively the size of the animal. Few Lycan species have obtained the ability to change the size of their animal form, and even fewer have mastered that ability- Kitsunea of the Villa no Kotou is an example of some one who has.
Height: Refer to the data on humans
Hair: Found in a variation of colors: Common: normally the colour of fur that their beast form has- which are the actual colors of animals, sorry people no purple wolves (ect.) here!. Fur: Any colour found in nature (animals)… although white fur is extemly rare.
Eyes: Two, found in a variation of colors: Common: basicly a lycan’s eyes take on the colour of eyes that their beast form is based off of. (i.e. so if one is a cat lycan they have eyes like a cat, although they look normal unless they aren’t controlling their emotions)
Skin : Refer to the data on humans.
